Tension Headaches treatment

Symptoms we help with

Tension headaches are often driven by tight neck and shoulder muscles. Common signs:

Tight, band-like pressure around the head
Tension and tightness in the neck and shoulders
Pain behind the eyes or at the base of the skull
Headaches that worsen with desk work or stress

Common causes

Tension headaches are commonly caused by posture, stress and muscle tension in the neck and shoulders - especially with long hours at a desk. We treat the source rather than just masking the pain.

How we treat it

01
Full assessment

We assess your neck, shoulders and posture to understand what's triggering your headaches.

02
Hands-on treatment

Soft-tissue work, mobilisations, trigger-point release and dry needling to relieve the tension driving the pain.

03
Your roadmap from day one

Tension headaches rarely have one cause - so your plan tackles all of them. You'll leave your first session with targeted exercises, posture advice, and practical desk-setup tweaks you can apply straight away, plus a structured progression so every session builds on the last and the headaches become less frequent, less intense, and easier to manage.

Seek medical advice for sudden, severe or unusual headaches, or headaches with visual changes, weakness or confusion - these need different care.

Questions about tension headaches

Can massage really help headaches?

When headaches are driven by neck and shoulder tension, hands-on treatment can reduce both their frequency and intensity.

How is this different from a migraine?

Tension headaches and migraines are different. We treat tension-type and cervicogenic (neck-driven) headaches, and will refer on if your symptoms suggest something else.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients notice improvement within a few sessions, alongside posture changes. We'll review progress as we go.
